CT07021 - Future Citrus Leadership of the Riverina
The aim of the Future Citrus Leadership project is to develop potential citrus leaders within the Riverina Citrus growing region. The project targets, but is not restricted to, people under 35 that have involvement in the citrus industry, whether they are growers, packingshed staff, managers or agribusiness representatives.
Recently, Riverina Citrus has sent two members of the Young Leaders group to the Fresh Event 2010 Conference and Trade Show at the Melbourne Convention Centre, an important educational and networking opportunity for participants.
One member of the group achieved a Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management), upon completion of a two year course conducted through TAFE NSW, in April 2010.
Another participant within the group was awarded an Advanced Diploma of Agriculture through Tocal College, as a result of assessments conducted in late 2009.
In August 2010, four members of the group will be travelling to South Africa to attend the 6th Citrus Symposium in Drakensberg. Other highlights of the trip will include visits to local orchards and Stellenbosch University, one of the four top research universities in South Africa.
