Riverina Citrus - About Us

The Riverina Citrus Committee has the following six functions:

  1. Contribute to the MIA and Tri-State Fruit Fly eradication program.
  2. Facilitate, through research and technology, the adoption of orchard management practices to produce citrus fruit to meet market demands and enhance orchard profitability.
  3. Obtain, analyse and disseminate relevant industry information including citrus crop forecasting.
  4. Initiate, co-ordinate and/or contribute to promotional activities to enhance the sale of citrus fruit grown in the MIA.
  5. Facilitate market access to new and existing export markets.
  6. Liaise with Commonwealth and State agencies and the general
    public on behalf of the Riverina Citrus industry.

The Riverina Citrus Committee has nine members made up of six citrus
producers (three from Griffith and Carrathool, and three from Leeton and
Narrandera), and three appointed members with expertise in marketing,
management, finance, law or fruit processing.

 

Frank Battistel


• Chairman
• Represents the northern constituents of Griffith City and the Carrathool Shire.
• Committee member since June 2005.

Domenic Mancini


• Deputy Chair
• Represents the growers the Griffith and Carrathool Shire.
• Committee member since August 1998.
• Has been in the industry since 1965 as a grower and export packer.
• Has sat on a number of other Committees such as the Griffith and District Citrus Growers, MIA Fruit Fly Campaign Committee and was a founding director of Filmont Pty Ltd.

Susan Brighenti


• Represents the growers in the Griffith and Carrathool Shire.
• Committee member since June 2008.
• Is a citrus grower and export packer.
• Currently the Chairperson of the MIA Fruit Fly Campaign Committee.
• Has sat on other Committees such as the Griffith and District Citrus Growers Inc, National Citrus Packers Association and Riversun.


Neil Offner


• Independently appointed member.
• Committee member since October 2005.
• Operates his own export coordination business.
• Formerly a Marketing Manager for a local citrus packinghouse and processor.

Wayne Robinson


• Represents the growers in the Leeton and Narrandera districts.
• Committee member since June 2002.
• Is a citrus grower and packer.
• Has been involved in other Committees such as the Leeton Citrus Growers Inc.

Phillip Blacker


• Represents the growers in the Leeton and Narrandera districts.
• Committee member since June 2010.
• Previous chair of Riverina Citrus.

Joe Valenzisi


• Represents the growers in Leeton and Narrandera districts.
• Committee member since June 2005.
• Is a citrus grower and also manages the farm at the NSW DPI Yanco site.
• Current president of the Leeton Citrus Growers Inc.
• The Riverina’s representative on Auscitrus.
