Pursuant to the Agricultural Industry Services Regulation 2009, the Electoral Commissioner for NSW as Returning Officer will conduct a poll.

 

 

THE POLL

The poll will be on the matter of winding up the Riverina Citrus Committee. The question asked at the poll will be: - Are you in favour of winding up the Agricultural Industry Services Committee, Riverina Citrus?”

 

ROLL EXHIBITION

The preliminary roll containing the names of growers entitled to vote in the poll will be available for inspection from Wednesday, 25 January 2012 to Wednesday, 8 February 2012 at the following locations:

 

Riverina Citrus - Farm 217 Murray Road, Griffith NSW

Between the hours of 9:00am to 5:00pm - Monday to Friday

 

Leeton Shire Library - Cnr Dooley Lane & Sycamore Street, Leeton NSW

Between the hours of 10:00am to 5:00pm - Monday to Friday

 

CLOSE OF ROLL/ENROLMENT

The roll for this poll will close NOON THURSDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 2012.

 

APPLICATION FOR ENROLMENT AND OBJECTION AGAINST ENROLMENT

Any person not appearing on the roll who is qualified to vote may make an application to appear on the roll, on the approved form (Form 2).

Any person who is entitled to vote in this poll may object to the inclusion of the name of any person in the preliminary roll. Applications must be lodged on the approved forms (Form 3 or Form 4).

 

Applications for enrolment and objection against enrolment may be obtained from the NSW Electoral Commission and lodged with the Returning Officer, New South Wales Electoral Commission:

by hand: NSW Electoral Commission, Level 25, 201 Kent Street, Sydney; or

by post: PO Box 693, Grosvenor Place NSW 1220; or

by fax: (02) 9290 5939

so that the forms are received at the NSW Electoral Commission no later than NOON THURSDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 2012.

ELIGIBILITY FOR VOTING

A person is qualified to vote in the poll if the person belongs to the class of primary producers for which the committee concerned is constituted, as set out in the committee foundation regulation.

A primary producer that is a corporation, partnership, trustee or legal personal representative (whether agent, administrator, executor, or otherwise) for a person or an estate of a person must nominate, by notice in writing, an individual to be enrolled and vote on behalf of the primary producer at any election.

This nominated individual is deemed in these cases to be the producer for the purposes of the election, and entitled to vote.

The class of primary producers for which the committee is constituted is growers of citrus fruit, other than those whose citrus fruit orchards have a total area of less than 2 hectares.

Citrus fruit means oranges (other than Seville oranges), grapefruit, lemons and mandarins.

 

VOTING

A postal ballot will be held, closing at NOON THURSDAY, 8 MARCH 2012. Ballot papers will be posted on Monday, 13 February 2012 to all eligible producers who appear on the final roll.

 

ENROLMENT

It is compulsory for persons who are qualified to vote in the poll to be enrolled, or to apply for enrolment in the final roll for the poll; however it is not compulsory to vote.
